The Wastewater utility of the Public Service Department provides professional and emergency service to residents, visitors and business owners alike by providing cost efficient and environmentally conscious collection and delivery of wastewater.
Responsibilities include the construction, operation, maintenance, and repair of the City's Wastewater collection system. Staff utilizes a Vactor line cleaner and Ques camera system to monitor the wastewater infrastructure.
The wastewater collection system consists of 38.7 miles of gravity sewer, 751 manholes, 2.8 miles of force main, 2 pump stations, 14 lift stations, and averages 2.62 Million Gallons per Day (MGD). The Master Pump Station (Pump Station #1) is key to the City's wastewater collection system since it receives all wastewater collected by the City and pumps it all under the Boca Ciega Bay through a 18-inch force main to the City of St. Petersburg's Northwest Water Reclamation Facility for treatment.
The Wastewater utility is under the direction of the Public Works Director. The Operations Manager and Utility Crew Chief coordinate budgetary needs and staffing priorities. Staff is certified in wastewater collection by the State of Florida through the Florida Water and Pollution Control Operators Association (FWPCOA).
